Whether natural, or shaped by their inhabitants, the Ethiopian lands are so rich that they cannot be discovered in a single stay considering the distances, unless you have a full month, or you travel by plane: green high plateaus with fresh and invigorating air, mountainous areas (Simien mountains in the north, Bal\u00e9 mountains in the south), arid deserts (Danakil in the north), large lakes in the Great Rift Valley, and even an active volcano (Erta Ale)...<\/p>

Ethiopia shares the history of humanity with the discovery of Lucy's fossil. It also has its own history as shown by its numerous religious and other monuments: monolithic churches of Lalibela, remains of the castles of Gondar, obelisks and tombs of Aksoum... Museum lovers are not disappointed.<\/p>

In addition to the religious phenomenon with its festivals (Timkat in January, Baptism of Christ), Ethiopian culture is characterised by its culinary specialities and dances.\u00a0<\/p>

The welcome and friendliness of the inhabitants are particularly noticeable at mealtimes.\u00a0<\/p>

Apart from the ubiquitous ingera, a pancake made of tef flour that serves as both bread and fork (guaranteed gluten-free), one can enjoy the flavours of shiro, doro wat, kefto and other tibs... While contemplating the disconcerting spectacle of the shoulder movements of traditional dances.<\/p>

Many species of wild animals and birds, including some endemic such as the Abyssinian wolf in the Bale Mountains or Simien. Hippos and crocodiles are numerous in the waters of Lake Chamo.<\/p>

In addition to those already mentioned, other Ethiopian cities are also worth a visit: the capital Addis Ababa for its entertainment, bars, cafes, museums... Bahir Dar, near Lake Tana and the Blue Nile Falls. Dir\u00e9 Dawa for its gentle way of life, its markets, hotels and restaurants and rock art sites.
