Useful information about your stay

Pandemic information:

Africorne Travel contractually undertakes to refund in full to its customers, any amount received before the start of the stay (1), in the event that the trip is cancelled or made impossible due to pandemic.

(1) except for expenses advanced by Africorne Travel which have not been reimbursed, mainly hotel room reservations; in the latter case Africorne Travel will establish an equity of the same amount as that made by the hotel.

Organization of your stay

Prior note: the legal information provided in this sheet is partial. Details of the pre-contractual and contractual obligations of Africorne Travel in connection with the supply of the tourist package sale will be given to you when the contract is sent (prior written information, general sales conditions, standard statutory information form).

Your stay on site requires you to set its duration, the sites to be discovered, the accommodation according to your choices.

You will be advised by the agency with which the dialogue must be initiated as soon as possible. Your first contact with the agency should ideally be at least 3 months before the date you have planned for the start of your stay, in order to be able to respond as best as possible to your requests and to allow you to buy your ticket at the best price, and to complete the visa formalities in due time. However, Africorne Travel is also able to meet your expectations just a few days before you arrive in the country.

The agency’s services do not involve the purchase of air tickets for international flights or the obtaining of visas, which are therefore your sole responsibility. However, Africorne Travel gives you all the useful information on these 2 topics.

For a trip to Djibouti and on request the agency can take over the visa application via internet.

Course of the service

Ideally the sequence of operations is as follows:

  1. On the Africorne Travel website: for the 1era contact Africorne Travel, click on "How to book" to access the booking form that you will have to complete or click on "contact".
  2. Dialogue with Africorne Travel, on the program and the desired price for your stay
  3. Africorne Travel gives you a detailed quote
  4. In the same message, you receive the RIB of Africorne Travel.
  5. Upon receipt of the documents described in point 4. above, you pay an account of 50% of the total price if your payment is made more than 30 days before the start of the trip. If your payment is made less than 30 days before the start of the trip, you pay the full price of the trip. The payment you make (deposit or total price), seals the contract between you and Africorne Travel on the basis of the contract that you will return to Africorne Travel by email after having dated and signed it.
  6. Africorne Travel will send you an email confirming that your reservation has been taken into account and that the deposit or the entire price of the trip has been paid (depending on the date of payment compared to the beginning of the trip).
  7. After the payment of your reservation, you make the purchase of your airline tickets for the international flight if this has not been done before contacting Africorne Travel and you communicate to Africorne Travel your flight plans to and from, to adapt the programme more precisely to your arrival and departure times if necessary.
You can also contact us directly at any time by sending a message to alaingorce974@gmail.com

In any case, your visa application must be made after the purchase of the ticket for the international flight.

Rates

Each stay is subject to a special rate that depends on the number of people in the group, the duration of the stay, the choice of accommodation and restaurants, and the sites visited and activities carried out.

The agency does not charge any margin on accommodation and catering services, the price of which is strictly identical to that paid to the service providers by the agency, which passes on to its clients any price reductions that may be granted to it by the service providers.

For equal service, our prices are decreasing according to the number of people in the group of travelers, because the agency reflects on the customer price, the reduction of fixed costs caused by a larger number of travelers.

Our prices include :

  • Accommodation in hotel or camp or apartment of Africorne Travel
  • Catering (breakfast, lunch and dinner) ;
  • Entrance fees to museums and site visit services (e.g. boat for sea travel);
  • Transport in 4X4 with your driver and guide ;
  • Domestic flights for stays in Ethiopia,
  • The agency's remuneration

Our prices do not include :

  • International flights;
  • The visa;
  • Any medical expenses on site and medical repatriation costs. Before departure, check with your mutual insurance company to find out how they will cover these costs.
  • Tips: in Ethiopia, tips are part of the custom. Giving little and often is good practice. In Djibouti, it is not customary to leave a tip, but it is not forbidden either!

Terms of payment and cancellation

Half of the price is paid by bank transfer when booking on the bank account of which we provide the RIB. The other half will be credited by a new transfer to the account of the agency, 30 days at the latest before your arrival.

The agency will consider as void any request for which the payment of the price of the entire trip has not been credited to its bank account under the conditions set out above; if the deposit of half the price has been paid, it will be reimbursed less any amounts already paid to our service providers and not reimbursed to the agency by them.

Under no circumstances can the agency be held responsible for delays or cancellations of international flights.

In the event that the beginning of the stay is delayed for all travellers in the group as a result of flight delays or problems in obtaining a visa or any other cause, only the amounts corresponding to the accommodation and catering services not used by the clients will be reimbursed, provided that these amounts are returned to the agency by the service providers if the agency has made an advance payment to them; the agency will also reimburse the amounts corresponding to the fuel costs not paid by it.

In the event that the start of the stay is delayed for one or more of the travellers in the group(b) only the amounts corresponding to the unused accommodation and food services corresponding to the number of delayed passengers shall be reimbursed, provided that these amounts are returned to the agency by the service providers if it has made an advance payment to them, after deduction, where appropriate, of any additional costs incurred by the agency in order to integrate the delayed passengers into the journey in progress.

In the event that the entire stay is cancelled for all travellers in the group, whatever the cause of the cancellation by the travellers, the agency will only reimburse the amounts corresponding to all the accommodation and catering services of the stay not used by the clients, as well as the services of specific activities included in the price of the stay and not used, provided that these amounts are returned to the agency by the service providers if it has made an advance payment to them; the agency will also reimburse the amounts corresponding to the fuel costs not paid by it.

In the event that the stay is cancelled entirely for one or more of the travellers in the groupIn the event of cancellation, only the amounts corresponding to the unused accommodation and food services corresponding to the number of travellers who have cancelled their stay will be reimbursed, provided that these amounts are returned to the agency by the service providers if the agency has made an advance payment to them.

In the event that the length of stay should be shortened for all travellers in the group, the agency will only reimburse the amounts corresponding to all accommodation and catering services during the stay not used by the client, as well as to the services of specific activities included in the price of the stay and not used, provided that these amounts are returned to the agency by the service providers if the agency has made an advance payment to them; the agency will also reimburse the amounts corresponding to fuel costs not paid by it.

In the event that the length of stay should be shortened for one or more travellers in the groupIn the case of the Agency, only the amounts corresponding to the unused accommodation and food services corresponding to the number of travellers who shortened their stay shall be reimbursed, provided that these amounts are returned to the Agency by the service providers if it has made an advance payment to them, after deduction of the additional costs incurred by the Agency in organising the early return of the traveller(s) concerned.

In the situations set out above, refunds will be made by the agency by transfer to the bank account of each of the travellers concerned by the delay, cancellation or reduction in the length of stay, after providing the agency with the RIB and the identity card of the traveller(s) concerned.

Money and local currencies

You have paid your accommodation, food and transport costs at the agency; however, you will still need cash in local currency for your personal purchases and out-of-pocket expenses not covered in the price of your stay.

The VISA card is very practical, allowing the withdrawal of local currency from ATMs in Djibouti and Ethiopia. Make sure with your bank that your bank card will allow you to withdraw money on the spot.

Bring euros or dollars that you can change into birrs or Djibouti francs.

Some hotels and department stores also accept payments in euros or dollars, by credit card or even by bank cheque.

1 dollar = 177.72 francs djibouti (fixed parity between these two currencies)

Formalities and VISA

Pour l’entrée en Ethiopie : each traveller must hold a tourist visa for at least one month. Please note, the passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Ethiopia.

The passport must have at least 3 blank pages, 2 of which must be opposite each other.

This visa can be obtained upon arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, payable in dollars or euros or by internet through the E-visa procedure.

Be careful in the latter case, ask for your e-visa on the official website of the Ethiopian government, i.e. http://www.evisa.gov.et excluding those of private operators not recognised by the authorities (link on the "diplomatie.gouv.fr" travel advice sheet).

Pour l’entrée à Djiboutieach traveller must hold a tourist visa for at least one month. Please note, the passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Djibouti.

The passport must have at least 3 blank pages, 2 of which must be opposite each other.

This visa can be obtained by internet on the site  http://www.evisa.gouv.dj excluding those of private operators.

Apply for an e-visa at least 15 days before entering the country: Prior to entering the application, you will have obtained from our agency the invitation which you must download with the following documents: air ticket, passport and a recent photo ID.

Be careful to mention as the starting point of the e-visa the day you arrive at the airport.

For the French, the visa can also be obtained from the Djibouti embassy in Paris: it is then necessary to send your passport to the embassy if you do not live there, and the time to obtain it is counted in months.

To be included in your suitcase:

  • Warm clothing (polar type) in all seasons: in ETHIOPIA with its capital Addis Ababa (between 2300 and 2600 meters of altitude) and its numerous high plateau regions, you will appreciate to have brought your polar jacket. Just think of Djibouti, where the Day camp is at an altitude of 1,500 metres;

  • Bathing suits in all seasons: obvious for swimming in the sea in Djibouti, also in Ethiopia for its natural hot water pools;
  • Light, loose fitting clothing: adapted against heat and mosquitoes;
  • Caps, hats, sunglasses;
  • Pharmacy kit: anti-mosquitoes, anti-diarrhoea medication;
  • Plastic bathing shoes against sharp stones or salt crystals in Djibouti;
  • Fins, snorkel mask in Djibouti;
  • Shoes for walking;
  • Headlamp, sheet type «meat bag»

Health

Malaria is rampant in Djibouti; it is up to you and your doctor to decide whether you need preventive treatment.

Les règles de base relatives à l’hygiène alimentaire doivent être respectées: lavage des mains…

Le seul vaccin obligatoire est celui contre la fièvre jaune aussi bien pour Djibouti que pour l’Ethiopie.
