Useful information about your stay

Organization of your stay

Preliminary remark: the information of a legal nature provided in this sheet is partial. The details of Africorne Travel's pre-contractual and contractual obligations within the framework of the provision of the sale of tourist packages, will be given to you as soon as the quotation is communicated in all the accompanying documents (prior written information, general terms and conditions of sale, standard information form provided by law).

Your stay on site requires you to set its duration, the sites to be discovered, the accommodation according to your choices.

Naturally you will be advised by the agency with whom the dialogue is to be initiated as soon as possible. Your first contact with the agency should ideally take place at least 3 months before the date you have planned for the beginning of your stay, in order to be able to respond to your requests as best as possible, and to allow you to buy your plane ticket at the best price, and to carry out the visa formalities in time.

The agency's services do not include the purchase of plane tickets for international flights or the obtaining of visas, which are therefore your sole responsibility.

Course of the service

It is important to follow the chronological order of the operations indicated below:

  1. On the Africorne Travel website: for the 1era contact Africorne Travel, click on "How to book" to access the booking form that you will have to complete or click on "contact".
  2. Dialogue between you and Africorne Travel, on the program and the price of your stay.

  4. 5. On receipt of the documents described in point 4. above, you pay an account of 50 % of the total price if your payment occurs more than 30 days before the start of the trip; if your payment occurs less than 30 days before the start of the trip, you pay the full price of the trip. The payment you make (deposit or total price), seals the contract between you and Africorne Travel on the basis of the contract that you will return to Africorne Travel by mail, after having dated and signed it. You can send by email, the scan of the signed contract.
  6. Africorne Travel will send you an e-mail confirming that your reservation and the payment of the deposit or the totality of the price of the trip have been taken into account (depending on the date of payment in relation to the beginning of the trip).
  7. For stays in Ethiopia involving domestic flights, immediately after the payment of your reservation, provide Africorne Travel with a copy of the passport of the travellers concerned by the trip.
  8. Immediately after the payment of your reservation, you make the purchase of your plane tickets for the international flight if this has not been done before contacting Africorne Travel and you communicate to Africorne Travel your outward and return flight plans. An amendment to the signed contract may be established in order to adapt more precisely the program according to your days of arrival and departure.

In any case, your visa application must be made after the purchase of the ticket for the international flight.

Rates

Each stay is subject to a specific price which depends on the number of people making up the group, and the choice of accommodation and restaurants.

However, by way of example, rates are given for stays for which the agency has chosen accommodation and restaurants and for a given number of people.

The agency does not charge any margin on accommodation and catering services, the price of which is strictly identical to that paid to the service providers by the agency, which passes on to its clients any price reductions that may be granted to it by the service providers.

For the same service, our prices are in principle degressive according to the number of people in the group, because the agency passes on the reduction in fixed costs caused by a larger number of travellers to the client's price.

Our prices include :

  • Accommodation in a hotel or camp;
  • Catering (breakfast, lunch and dinner) ;
  • Entrance fees to museums and site visit services (e.g. boat for sea travel);
  • Transport in 4X4 with your driver and guide ;
  • Domestic flights for stays in Ethiopia, it being specified that a variation in the price of the flight greater than 10% will increase or decrease the price of the flight indicated in the package.
  • The agency's remuneration

Our prices do not include :

  • International flights;
  • The visa;
  • Any medical expenses on site and medical repatriation costs. Before departure, check with your mutual insurance company to find out how they will cover these costs.
  • Tipping: In Ethiopia, tipping is a custom. Giving little and often is a good practice: for hotel staff, on average 20 Birrs in Addis (about 0.60 €) and 10 Birrs outside. In large tourist restaurants, 10% of the bill. In Djibouti, it is not customary to leave a tip, but it is not forbidden either!

Terms of payment and cancellation

Half of the price is paid by bank transfer at the time of booking to the bank account for which we provide you with the bank details or by credit card on a dedicated and secure link sent with the contract to be signed. The other half will be credited by a new transfer to the agency's account or a new payment by credit card, 30 days before your arrival at the latest.

The agency will consider as null and void any request for which the payment of the price of the entire trip has not been credited to its bank account under the conditions set out above; if the deposit of half of the price has been paid, it will be refunded after deduction of any amounts already paid to our service providers and not refunded to the agency by the latter and after deduction of a penalty equal to 10 % of the price of the trip.

Under no circumstances can the agency be held responsible for delays or cancellations of international flights.

In the event that the beginning of the stay is delayed for all travellers in the group as a result of flight delays or problems in obtaining a visa or any other cause, only the amounts corresponding to the accommodation and catering services not used by the clients will be reimbursed, provided that these amounts are returned to the agency by the service providers if the agency has made an advance payment to them; the agency will also reimburse the amounts corresponding to the fuel costs not paid by it.

In the event that the start of the stay is delayed for one or more of the travellers in the group(b) only the amounts corresponding to the unused accommodation and food services corresponding to the number of delayed passengers shall be reimbursed, provided that these amounts are returned to the agency by the service providers if it has made an advance payment to them, after deduction, where appropriate, of any additional costs incurred by the agency in order to integrate the delayed passengers into the journey in progress.

In the event that the entire stay is cancelled for all travellers in the group, whatever the cause of the cancellation by the travellers, the agency will only reimburse the amounts corresponding to all the accommodation and catering services of the stay not used by the clients, as well as the services of specific activities included in the price of the stay and not used, provided that these amounts are returned to the agency by the service providers if it has made an advance payment to them; the agency will also reimburse the amounts corresponding to the fuel costs not paid by it.

In the event that the stay is cancelled entirely for one or more of the travellers in the groupIn the event of cancellation, only the amounts corresponding to the unused accommodation and food services corresponding to the number of travellers who have cancelled their stay will be reimbursed, provided that these amounts are returned to the agency by the service providers if the agency has made an advance payment to them.

In the event that the length of stay should be shortened for all travellers in the group, the agency will only reimburse the amounts corresponding to all accommodation and catering services during the stay not used by the client, as well as to the services of specific activities included in the price of the stay and not used, provided that these amounts are returned to the agency by the service providers if the agency has made an advance payment to them; the agency will also reimburse the amounts corresponding to fuel costs not paid by it.

In the event that the length of stay should be shortened for one or more travellers in the groupIn the case of the Agency, only the amounts corresponding to the unused accommodation and food services corresponding to the number of travellers who shortened their stay shall be reimbursed, provided that these amounts are returned to the Agency by the service providers if it has made an advance payment to them, after deduction of the additional costs incurred by the Agency in organising the early return of the traveller(s) concerned.

In the situations set out above, refunds will be made by the agency by transfer to the bank account of each of the travellers concerned by the delay, cancellation or reduction in the length of stay, after providing the agency with the RIB and the identity card of the traveller(s) concerned.

Money and local currencies

You have paid your accommodation, food and transport costs at the agency; however, you will still need cash in local currency for your personal purchases and out-of-pocket expenses not covered in the price of your stay.

The VISA card is very practical, allowing the withdrawal of local currency from ATMs in Djibouti and Ethiopia. Make sure with your bank that your bank card will allow you to withdraw money on the spot.

Bring euros or dollars that you can change into birrs or Djibouti francs.

Some hotels and department stores also accept payment in euros or dollars, or even by bank cheque.

As of October 4, 2020 1 euro = 43.12 birrs = 208.24 Djibouti francs   - 1 dollar = 177.72 Djibouti francs = 36.80 birrs
